Small Kitchen Knife for Steve's Father
The following is a WIP for a small damascus kitchen that I made for my father. The ladder pattern damascus barstock I produced while attending a class at Studio 4 with Dave Lisch and Mike Quesenberry. Both recommended I not forge the steel--saying that ladder pattern damascus looks better if shaped via stock removal. Of course they are correct. But...I really like to forge, so I forged it out. And to be honest, I like how the forging distorted the pattern towards the tip of the knife, and I wasted less steel.
